Do you charge sales tax on purchases?

By law, we have to charge sales tax on purchases being mailed to any location within New York State. Our shopping cart will show the amount of your order less sales tax. We compute sales tax and add it to your order during the credit card approval process. If you are tax exempt, please email us when you order and we will adjust your invoice upon receipt of your tax exempt form.

What are your shipping charges?

Our rates are based upon the the total purchased. The following chart outlines our policy and is subject to change.

We generally ship UPS or Federal Express. Therefore, we cannot ship to post office boxes. If you have
special instructions, please note them in the "Special Instructions" section of the order form. Every
effort will be made to meet your needs.

Can I special order items?

If you'd like to order an item that you see at your local quilt shop but is not listed here, drop us an email with as much detail (manufacturer, designer or collection, color, style #, etc.) and the quantity you'd like. We may be able to order it or have it on order already. Maybe there is an item we carried in the past but is not on the web site anymore: drop us a note and we'll see what we have on hand. If you need fabric custom cut, we do offer that service on a prepaid basis. Again, drop us a note. Our goal is to sell fabric - we will work with you!!

What is your return policy?

If you find the wrong fabric or quantity has been shipped to you, drop us a note or give us a call. We will either reship the correct amount of fabric to you at no-charge (provided we have it in stock) or issue you a return ID# and shipping information to have the fabric returned to us, postage paid by the Clever Quilter. If we choose to have the fabric shipped back to us, we will issue a full refund to you upon receipt. If there is a problem with shipping: we will contact our shipper and reship immediately (provided the fabric is in stock), if necessary. If a shipment arrives damaged, we will reship (provided the fabric is in stock) and provide you with a return ID# and shipping information to have the fabric returned to us, postage paid by the Clever Quilter. If a fabric is no longer in stock and we do not expect to receive any more of it, we can help you choose an alternative fabric as a substitute or issue you a full refund. We will work with you to resolve any problems that arise. We encourage our shoppers to utilize the Matching Fabric button to help match fabrics when selecting fabrics as we cannot accept fabric back simply because it "doesn't work" or is (to quote a two year-old) "yucky".

Redeeming Gift Certificates

To redeem a gift certificate, enter the code or number in the "Promotion Code" box presented at the bottom of the page during checkout. Gift certificates are good for 30 days unless otherwise stated. They are good for merchandise only and cannot be used to cover shipping costs or sales tax due.

What is the difference between a Fat Quarter and a quarter yard of fabric?

Good question: A Fat Quarter is roughly 21" by 18". A quarter yard is roughly 42" by 9". We will always cut a quarter yard unless you specify a Fat Quarter - be careful what you order!!

The same idea works for a Fat Eighth and an eight of a yard. Typically we will not offer Fat Eighth cuts but certain special fabrics or pak's are perfect for this type cut. A Fat Eighth measures roughly 10.5" by 9". An eighth of a yard, on the other hand is a very skinny 4.5" by roughly 42" .
