Sweet Lullaby Baby Quilt Directions

Read all directions first. Pre wash fabrics and iron. All measurements below include a 1/4" seam allowance. Fat quarter pack has enough fabric for quilt top and binding. Backing, batting and threads sold separately.

Cutting Fabric:

Cut panel down to 22 3/4" wide by 42 1/2" long.

Choose your inner border fabric and cut 5, 3 1/2" x 21" strips from your fat quarter. Attach these, end to end and cut into two strips 3 1/2" x 42 1/2" long. You will have some left over. We used yellow in the demo quilt pictured above. Choose pink or blue if you'd like. This fabric is to the left and right of the main panel, in between the rows of alternating white, yellow and green blocks. Sweet Lullaby

To create the four double strips of squares on the left and right of the main panel, choose three fabrics and cut 10 strips of each color, 1 1/2" wide and 21" long. We used the following fabrics:

To create the outer border, cut plaid fat quarter into 10, 1 1/2" strips. Attach these end to end. You can choose an alternate fabric for this as well depending on the color scheme of your quilt.
Sweet Lullaby We are sold out of the plaid fabric at this time!!

Creating the alternating block rows:

Sew the 1 1/2" x 21" strips of fabric together, alternating colors.
Iron flat, cut into 1 1/2" strips.

Sew strips together, side by side to create four double strips, 42 blocks long. These should measure 2 1/2" x 42 1/2".

Assembling your quilt:

Attach one strip of the alternating blocks to the left and right sides of the main panel.

Attach your inner border fabric (3 1/2" x 42 1/2") to the outside of each set of alternating blocks.

Attach the final two strips of alternating blocks to the outside of the inner border fabric.

Border your top with the 1 1/2" strips of plaid fabric, attaching the left and right sides first, followed by the top and bottom.

Binding:

You will need one fat quarter of fabric for binding. We used 2" binding strips and needed about 176" to complete the project.

We used the blue butterfly fabric: Sweet Lullaby

Backing and Batting:

You will need 50" of backing (45" wide). You will need a piece of batting 50" x 45"
