Farmer's Market Quilt Directions 51" x 51" 

Our demo quilt contains 14 different fat quarter cuts from the Kyle's Marketplace Collection by RJR.

Read all directions first. Pre wash fabrics and iron. All measurements below include a 1/4" seam allowance. You will need 14 different fat quarters for quilt top and binding. We used 14 different fruit prints when making this quilt.

Cutting your fabric:

Take your yellow tone fabrics, 2 fat quarters, and layer one on top of the other. Cut your fabric into 2 strips, 6.875" wide by the long length of the fat quarter (21").

Re cut these into 6, 6.875" squares. Re cut each block into 2 triangles. You will have 12 triangles of yellow toned fruit pieces. These are used for the outer border and corners of the quilt.

We choose to use the cantaloupes and green grapes for binding. Pull these out of the stack and hold aside.

We used strawberries, purple grapes, pineapples and green apples as our smaller boxes. You can use any four contrasting fruits for this. From each fat quarter, cut 5 rows of 3 1/2" strips. Re cut into 25, 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" squares.
Sew together to create 25 squares, using one of each fabric, per these images:

From six other fruits, cut 2 rows, 6 1/2" wide by 19 1/2". From these strips, Re cut into 6, 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" squares.
Lay out your quilt top as follows. Attach the yellow toned triangles to the ends of each row as shown below. Sew your top together, row by row. Finally, attach the final four yellow triangles to the four corners. They will be oversized and will need to be cut down when squaring up your quilt after quilting.

You will need a piece of backing and batting 55" x 55".
Quilt your quilt as desired.
You will need 216" of binding. We used 2" wide binding strips which required 10" of fabric.
